New homes proposed for the site of a demolished Seaton Burn pub

New homes could be built on the site of a demolished pub if plans lodged with the council are given the go-ahead.

Northumbria Vehicles has applied to North Tyneside Council for permission to build 10 new homes on the site of the Drift Inn, on Front Street, Seaton Burn.

A design and access statement submitted to the authority said the development would be a mixture of three and four bedroom houses.

It claims that the waste land left by the demolition of the pub is "dull" and needs modernisation.

The document also stated the site is naturally flat and would require "minimal" land levelling.

Furthermore, it said the land can "comfortably" accommodate the houses all of which will feature "generous back gardens and private parking drives with visitor parking".

Residents will also have easy access to public transport and walking routes, it said.

The statement added: "The identified development site is well serviced and otherwise well surrounded by adopted roads with public transport, and footpath infrastructure to all required public and community amenities."

North Tyneside Council's planning department is set to decide the application by mid September.
