New homes could be built in Blairlogie under proposals lodged with Stirling Council planners.
Calley Ltd want to create eight houses at Gogar Mains, off Gogar Road.
Planning permission was granted in 2018 for the demolition of existing buildings and building eight new homes on the site.
However, the developers now feel those designs are no longer viable.
The new application seeks permission for eight self-build plots and a new site layout “to allow for suitable residential amenity and buildability”.
The site is a former farm steading between Stirling and Menstrie which adjoins Gogar Loan, a minor road connecting the A91 to the north and A907 to the south.
As well as the remains of the stone steading buildings, which are described by the applicants as “dilapidated”, there is an agricultural shed and hardstanding plus scrubland.
The former Gogar Mains farmhouse and a modern bungalow adjoin the application site.
Vehicle access would be taken from Gogar Loan with a new access road serving five plots to the rear and three plots served by individual access points from Gogar Loan.
In documents submitted with the application, agents for the applicant said a reassessment had concluded that serviced plots were the only viable option.
They added: “As such, the application proposals take forward the preapplication design and associated advice to allow for a serviced plots layout which creates an improved site layout to the current consented scheme in terms of amenity, outlook and deliverability.
“Whilst indicative floorplans have been provided, it is the intention that detailed applications would be brought forward for individual plots and therefore detailed design approval is reserved.
“The application site forms a derelict, brownfield site and as a former farm steading, the principle of development is supported by Local Development Plan policy and associated Housing in the Countryside Supplementary Guidance, in addition to the existing planning consent.”
Council planners are expected to make a recommendation on the application in due course.
