New homes development for Colwyn Bay town centre - with existing properties demolished

A major homes development has been submitted for the centre of Colwyn Bay.

Under the scheme by Wales and West Housing Association two large townhouses/former guesthouses and other buildings would be demolished on Bay View Road.

These would be replaced by 54 apartments on the site opposite the Bay View Shopping Centre.

They would be for residents aged 55 and older.

Plans have been drawn up by Ainsley Gommon Architects for the housing association.

A planning statement said: "There is an identified need for affordable homes for people aged 55 and over in Colwyn Bay, an important historic seaside town on the North Wales coast.

"The expected residents of this development will be people who are relatively active and independent and may wish to downsize."

There would be one and two bedroom apartments with shared communal spaces like a seating area and external courtyard.

The plans have been submitted to Conwy Borough County Council.
