New gym could open in former County Durham clothes shop if plans given green light

A new gym could open in a former County Durham clothes shop if proposals are given the green light.

A planning application was submitted to Durham County Council for the Co-operative Buildings off Cotsford Lane, Horden, Peterlee, in June 2020.

The application asks to change the use of the first floor above Unit 1 and 2 to a gym, which according to planning documents was formerly a clothes shop.

Before a decision is made, the council will review the planning application and welcome comments from residents which can be made by writing to the council’s planning department up until Thursday, July 30.

The planning documents include floor plans which map out where each room would lie.

It will have a waiting area, a boxing gym and kitchen area.

A decision on the plans is expected by early September following consultation.

For more information, you can visit the council’s planning portal and search reference number DM/20/01715/FPA
