- Unverified leaks claiming to show gameplay and map details for Grand Theft Auto 6 have appeared online alongside direct threats aimed at developer Rockstar Games.
- A group calling itself CyberLeek claimed responsibility for the breach, stating it was motivated by frustration over Rockstar's decision to release the game solely as a digital download without a physical disc.
- The hackers published a manifesto warning major gaming corporations to behave or face similar attacks, while also criticising Rockstar for removing paid content and restricting extras to a costlier Ultimate Edition.
- In addition to expressing grievances over game release choices, the leaks appeared to be utilised by CyberLeek to promote their own cryptocurrency memecoin.
- Rockstar has not yet commented on the security breach or threats, which occurred shortly before a planned extended preview of the game scheduled for broadcast on Netflix on 27 August.
