Seven new countries have been added to the UK "green list" for foreign travel, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has today anounced.
From 4am on Monday 30 August, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Switzerland, and the Azores will be added to the green list, as the risk that travel from these countries poses to public health in the UK is low, the government has said.
The government's green, amber and red lists for travel determine the requirements for coronavirus testing and isolation on travellers return to the UK.
There is no requirement for people returning from a green list, or green watchlist country, to self-isolate on their return home, and since July 19, double-jabbed Brits returning from an amber list country are now able to avoid isolation too.

It remains the case that for all those travelling to or through a red list country, there will be a legal requirement to isolate in a government quarantine hotel at their own expense on return to the UK.

What rules apply to green list countries?
People travelling to green list countries will not need to isolate or quarantine on their return to the UK.
All passengers must take a Covid PCR test 72 hours before departure to the UK, and two days after their return to the UK.
However, some destinations have placed restrictions on UK travellers, including quarantine measures once they arrive at their destination.
Passengers are encouraged to check all requirements and FCDO travel advice before they book any foreign travel to any of the above destinations.
