Plans for a purpose-built events space in the east end of the city have taken another step forward.
The £2 million music, arts, and community space is set to be built near Celtic Park and will be "something akin to a smaller version of SWG3" developers have said.
An initial application for the site next to 1257 London Road was submitted in 2018 with permission granted in March 2020. The council is now being asked to agree to sell land on Dalriada Street that would be used for the venue, expected to be called 'G40'.

Designs submitted as part of the application show an 'engine shed' style building to reflect the city's railway heritage with space for 420 people on the ground floor and 280 people on the upper floor.
Outside, there will be containers to house street food outlets and a bar. We previously reported how the city's Licensing Board gave the venue a provisional premises licence to sell alcohol.
Archie MacIver, representing One Star Leisure Ltd, said the venue could be “something akin to a smaller version of the SWG3 type operation in the West End.”
He added the development would complement the regeneration of the city’s East End and could be used for “a whole variety of events, weddings, conferences, corporate dinners and so on".
The venue would also be available for community use when not being used for pre-booked activities.
Mr MacIver said there is a “major ongoing regeneration” which is “long overdue.”
He added: “The east end has always been the poor relation compared to the west end, when we look at the facilities that are on offer for the people who live there.
“What is proposed here is something akin to a smaller version of the SWG3-type operation in the west end. That’s the flavour of it.
“We are aware the premises are situated close to Celtic Park and on occasion, there will be large numbers attending matches.
“Should it be the case that the two premises are operating at the same time, then the appropriate security measures would be put in place to make sure that there was proper control of the operation of the premises, with stewarding and the like.”
