New Glasgow cafe offering city artists a 'blank canvas' to show their work on ever-changing mural wall

A new cafe is opening in the Whiteinch area next week - with an ever-changing mural wall to bring some additional colour to the city streets.

Haylynn Canteen is taking over the space vacated by the Cabin restaurant on Dumbarton Road near the Clyde Tunnel, and will be serving up breakfast, lunch and coffee to locals.

Owners of the cafe hope that their new mural wall project will help support local street artists by giving them a 'legal blank canvas' with full freedom to paint what they want.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, chef and owner Robbie said: "We’re giving the wall to local project Colourways Glasgow to support local street artists and the wall will be changing every two months.

"The unit is going to be chef owned by myself after being the head chef and opening Eighty Eight and having spent two years in Melbourne and two in Switzerland, with also six years at Number 16 on Byres Road.

"It's going to be a very brunch focused menu which will follow the same idea as Eighty Eight as a very seasonal/ever changing menu."

Local artist Ellietype was the first to showcase their work outside Haylynn Canteen, which swings open its doors on Monday, December 21.

You can keep your eyes peeled for more info and the menu HERE.
