New gig venue Jimmy's is about to open in the iconic old Cabin Club

The old Cabin Club is being brought back to life again this year, as Jimmy’s music venue and bar has taken over.

The ECHO can now confirm that the brand new venue will launch in the Havelock Building on Thursday, August 1.

On the corner of  Bold Street and Berry Street, Jimmy’s is being opened by George Craig, frontman of the band One Night Only and his musician brother Jimmy.

The city bar will be the sister venue to much-loved Jimmy’s Manchester.

While the venue, which aims to provide live music seven days a week, will open on Thursday, August 1, the Jimmy’s team are planning a whole week of launch events.

Full details of the launch parties and gigs, are said to be released in the coming weeks.

Previously speaking to the ECHO, George said he plans for the venue to have a  "psychedelic 60s and 70s vibe".

He said: "It's got a such good vibe to it.

"We said when we saw this building that if we could have designed a layout for Jimmy's from scratch, over three floors, this is what it would have looked like."

"It's a building with great history and we're bringing it back to life.

"George Harrison wrote Don't Bother Me after coming here... all that appealed to me. We're all Beatles fans. It's got that rich heritage to it."

Gigs that have already been announced for Jimmy’s Liverpool so far include Giant Rocks on October 11, Johnny Lloyde on October 24, Only The Poets on October 26 and Tom Speight on November 22.
