Two new-generation artists from Japan and Thailand will present their unique stories, inspired by their familiarity with the surrounding environment through art, at Bangkok Trading Post Bistro & Deli from Thursday April 4 until May 19.
Titled "Pastiche", the collaborative exhibition will see 10 newly created encaustic (hot-wax) paintings by Japanese artist Moe Nakase and 10 oil-on-canvas paintings by artist Charannatan Tanachoteporamat.
A model-cum-artist who has always bonded with nature, Moe created remarkable stipple art with full compositions of minuscule dots on translucent paper before she began focusing on encaustic painting, illustrating vivid flows of colours using beeswax, which gives the feel and finish of glazed ceramic.
Her striking work was a part of the "J-Collabo Annual Exhibition", which was also exhibited in New York City. She has had two solo exhibitions in Tokyo.
A graduate of Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Charanatan takes inspiration from the characteristics of mountains in different countries and the interplay of light and shade in nature.
She is reputed for skilfully using a trowel as her primary tool to mix colours, creating different dimensions by blending dark and light colours with rhythm and style, for both discord and balance.
Through textures and colours, both artists aim to express their perspectives on the balance of nature and the uncertainties of life.
Bangkok Trading Post Bistro & Deli is located at 137 Pillars Suites and Residences, Sukhumvit 39, and is open daily, 6am-11pm.
