Watch Game of Thrones episode 4 trailer: Gripping preview sees Daenerys Targaryen vow to win the ‘last war’

HBO treated fans to a huge Game of Thrones teaser ahead of episode four.

After an epic conclusion to the Battle of Winterfell, which saw Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) slay the Night King in a shock turn of events, things look set to erupt in Westeros.

In true Game of Thrones fashion, the new trailer keeps finer details under wraps, but shows Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) rallying up troops from the King’s Landing.

With her sights set firmly on the Iron Throne, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) appears to hint she may head South to take the battle directly to Cersei.

“We have won the great war, now we will win the last war,” she announces.

In a chilling concluding clip which shows Cersei looking out at her troops, Daenerys’ chilling voice can be heard declaring: “We’ll rip her out, root and stem.”

Anticipation: Fans are gearing up for the final three remaining episodes (HBO)

The dramatic clip is not the first time Daenerys has made clear her goal to attain the Iron Throne.

Clarke recently defended her character’s lack of concern for the fact that she has been in a romantic relationship with her nephew Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

After being faced with her incestuous relationship during episode three, Daenerys barely batted an eyelid at the news but did show a frustrated reaction to learning Jon may stand in her way of attaining the throne.

“The main thing is we’re up for the same promotion and I’ve been working for it for my entire existence,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

She also hinted that her royal counterpart would be willing to eliminate any threat standing in her way.

“Dany literally was brought into this world going, ‘RUN!’ These f****** [in Westeros] have f***** everything up,” Clarke said. “Now it’s, ‘You’re our only hope.’ There’s so much she’s taken on in her duty in life to rectify. There’s so much she’s seen and witnessed and been through and lost and suffered and hurt to get her and Jon doesn’t even want it.”

Game of Thrones is on Sky Atlantic, tonight at 9pm. It is also available to stream on NOW TV.
