New funding for groups helping the vulnerable in West Lothian during coronavirus crisis

West Lothian Council is offering additional funding to third sector groups to support vulnerable people during the coronavirus crisis.

The council has set aside over £327,000 to help Third Sector groups in West Lothian. This includes local charities, community groups, community councils, social enterprises and voluntary organisations.

The council is keen to hear from all groups but particularly those who support the elderly and people with disabilities.

Craig McCorriston, the council’s head of planning, economic development and regeneration, said: “This is a significant funding package that we believe can go a long way to support local groups help those most in need.

“We want to get funding to organisations as quickly as possible so we are asking for applications to be submitted by 10am on Thursday April 16. The application form, which is available on the council’s website, is short and we would encourage Third Sector Groups to submit applications as quickly as possible.

“West Lothian Council is grateful for the work which third sector organisations are doing to support those in need as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. We aware that meeting these challenges is placing resource pressures on organisations.”
