New funding announced for Kentucky workforce training initiatives

Governor Andy Beshear announced new financial support for training initiatives in the state’s workforce. Governor Beshear has unveiled plans for a series of grants providing over $15 million for various approved companies and consortiums throughout the commonwealth.

The most notable of these comes in the form of a roughly $10 million grant for BlueOval SK Battery Park in Glendale, a facility set to begin production of Ford vehicle batteries in 2025. The park is anticipated to provide over 5,000 jobs once it begins production in 2025.

Also approved was a roughly $3.8 million grant that would provide financial assistance to students at Metro College in Louisville, a partnership program between UPS, the University of Louisville, and Jefferson Community & Technical College.

Various other job training facilities throughout Kentucky also received funding. All these efforts are part of a “Supply Kentucky” campaign announced by Governor Beshear in March.
