A new fund which aims to support innovation and new ideas will have South Lanarkshire at its forefront.
The UK Community Renewal Fund will support pilots that "draw on local insights" and will help with preparations for the introduction of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in 2022.
As part of the Government’s “Levelling Up” agenda 100 priority places in the UK have been identified for the fund, and South Lanarkshire is one of them.
South Lanarkshire Council has been designated as the lead authority by the UK Government, meaning it is responsible for encouraging and receiving bids, selecting the bids that will be sent to UK Government for consideration and paying grants to successful projects and managing their performance.
Executive director of community and enterprise resources, Michael McGlynn, said: “We are interested in bids that build on local insight and knowledge.
"Proposals should align with long-term strategic plans for local growth, target people most in need and support community renewal. Projects must deliver activity that is line with the UK Community Renewal Fund Prospectus and align with at least one of the following investment priorities: investment in skills; investment for local business; investment in communities and places and supporting people into employment.”
Anyone who is interested should register by emailing fundinganddevelopment@southlanarkshire.gov.uk and highlighting the headline details of their proposed bid.
Completed bids must then be submitted by 5pm on Friday, 21 May 2021 using www.gov.uk/government/publications/uk-community-renewal-fund-prospectus, and bids submitted in any other format will not be accepted.
