Fortnite has debuted a set of mini challenges this week as we heard into the final few weeks of the season called “Storm the Agency,” which according to game lore, seems to be about SHADOW taking over the Agency from GHOST and enacting some sort of Doomsday device that has been teased in the menus.
The “invasion” of the Agency has created a new set of challenges and rewards that players can complete as of today. Some are just XP rewards, others are actual in-game items you can get and use for free. Here’s the full list which just went live in the game:
- Land at The Agency (0/1) – Reward: 40,000 XP
- Survive Storm Circles (0/1) – Reward: 40,000 XP
- Open a faction locked chest at different Spy Bases (0/3) – Reward: Pickaxe
- Swim over hatches at The Agency – Reward: 40,000 XP
- Eliminate a Henchman at different Safe Houses (0/3) – Reward: Wrap
- Complete any five challenges to earn the reward item: Glider
Here’s what those look like:
The axe, glider and wrap all look pretty cool, and I mean, they’re free, and that doesn’t happen too often in Fortnite which normally wants to charge for everything, be in the store or the battle pass, so it’s time to take advantage.
A lot of these are pretty basic like landing at The Agency or surviving Storm Circles, but others are a little more tricky.
Swimming over hatches seems to be one of the invasion plans for getting SHADOW inside the Agency to take it over, and the are found in the water around the Agency island. We will have a guide here that shows you exactly where they are. Try not to get shot as you swim.
Killing Henchman at Safe Houses might be pretty easy unless you don’t happen to remember where Safe Houses are, so we have a guide for that you can check out here.
My guess would be that after this week of challenges, we the players will have taken over The Agency for SHADOW and you will see those GHOST flags come down and be replaced by their rivals. And whatever this Doomsday device ends up being, I am guessing it triggers a map-transforming event that will take us into next season, though what exactly it’s going to do is anyone’s guess at the moment. Fortnite always loves to out-do themselves, so we’ll have to see what arrives as a result of all this in June. For now, we’re just setting the stage with these in-game questlines.
