New footage shows Zion Williamson’s shocked reaction to Pelicans getting the top pick

The entire NBA world was stunned when the New Orleans Pelicans struck big with the No. 1 pick in Tuesday’s NBA Draft lottery.

It turned out that Zion Williamson was a bit surprised too.

When the Lakers, Knicks and Grizzlies had their logos displayed, it meant that the Pelicans defied the 6-percent odds to land the top pick. Williamson himself did not see that one coming at all.

Seriously, at all.

ESPN shared new footage on Wednesday that showed Williamson react in real time to the Pelicans locking up the No. 1 pick. He had a nervous expression and then turned to R.J. Barrett as the two started laughing.

I wouldn’t exactly say that Williamson looked thrilled, but he definitely wasn’t angry.

Williamson said later in the broadcast that he had never been to New Orleans. So, unless he leverages a way out, he’s about to get to know the Big Easy very well.
