New footage shows shopper clash with Home Bargains staff over social distancing

A concerned shopper has shared footage which appears to show people ignoring the social distancing measures in Home Bargains in Leeds.

As reported on LeedsLive, the woman hit out at the retailer claiming that they are failing to enforce the government's social distancing rules, which states that people should remain at least two metres apart.

She began filming inside the Home Bargains store in Kirkstall, at around 11am on Sunday, May 10.

In the video shown above, a member of staff can be heard saying: "Unfortunately there's nothing we can do, people need to police themselves."

The woman, who has asked to remain anonymous, replies: "I can't come in this store again. Everywhere else I've gone has been doing a pretty good job.

"It's only this store I've been in that's not doing a very good job."

Home Bargains has been approached for a comment.

Yesterday, the Department for Health announced there are more than 1,600 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Leeds.

Almost 1,850 people, including 277 in Leeds, have died at NHS hospitals across Yorkshire after testing positive for the virus.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson relaxed the lockdown restrictions and said people who could not work from home could return to the workplace, but avoid public transport.

He also said that some children could return to school in June and hospitality businesses and other public places could reopen the following month, unless there is another spike in cases.

People can now meet other members of their family in public places, but are being urged to maintain a distance of at least two metres.
