New food spot Munch Glasgow to open in Bellahouston

A new cafe serving up the likes of pizzas, burgers, wraps, milkshakes and ice creams is set to open this spring.

Work has already been undertaken to convert former Gower Street convenience store Gambats, by Bellahouston Academy in the south of Glasgow.

And the man behind the project, a former Bellahouston Academy student, is aiming to revitalise the previously run down and neglected space in a bid to add a bit of life to the area.

It's hoped the Gower Street venue is the first of a number of MUNCH cafes across Glasgow and further afield.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, the owner told us: "I used to go to Bellahouston Academy nearby and back then I saw the potential of the place as I felt like it wasn't being utilised properly. A few years later, I've taken over the spot and that's how MUNCH Glasgow started.

"It's the first of hopefully many food spots in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

"Our goal is to use quality premium ingredients but charging not-so-premium prices. I'm in a fortunate position where I have different businesses already so my mission with MUNCH is not money-driven, but rather to offer great tasting, affordable food while breathing some new life into a shop and area that has been languishing for years."
