There is huge progress being made in the modding scene of Football Manager 26. Skin customization has been a major goal in the modding community. But, until now, there hasn’t been a clear sign of whether it’s possible or not.
Football Manager 26’s shift to the Unity engine has basically shattered the previous modding scenes. The engine change has forced developers to start building mods from scratch since the previous ones can’t be ported over.
However, things are starting to get better as a Reddit post just showed a preview of what working skins could look like in the future.
FM Match Lab posted on the r/footballmanagergames subreddit to share a preview of a skin builder by the developer Tom, named FM Skin Builder. Here is the full post for context.
FM Skin Builder basically allows you to play around with FM’s UI using CSS. It’s still a work in progress, but the post showed what’s possible. You can try out the tool yourself; there is detailed documentation and a tutorial to get you started.
What This Means For FM26

The UI has been a major problem in FM26. In fact, it’s what FM26 gets the most hate for. But, because skins don’t exist for the game, we have to make do with the bad UI. But if this tool ends up working as intended, it could solve the biggest problem of the game. You can already see a glimmer of hope in the comments. Fans have started to become hopeful about the game. The tool has made the FM community excited again.
The post also asks fans for feedback and support in developing the tool. FM Match Lab has also created a dedicated channel in their Discord where you can help the creator out with feedback.
Overall, this is great news for FM fans. The ability to customize the UI in FM26 could make the game playable again and even make players return. It could fix FM26’s downward trajectory and bring the game closer to where it should have been since release
