New fish and chip restaurant Fisherman's Bay opens in Whitley Bay right in time for Good Friday!

No Good Friday would be complete without fish and chips and a new chippy has just opened right in time for Easter.

The North East, particularly the coast, is blessed with some absolutely cracking chippies and now there's a new one to try out with the opening of Fisherman's Bay in Whitley Bay.

After months of drip feeding teasers on Facebook, Fisherman's Bay opened on East Parade on Monday, with a number of guests, including the Mayor Norma Redfearn CBE, dropping in to get their first taste of the action.

The Fisherman's Bay is run by the Dhillon family, who have half a century's worth of experience in the fish and chip industry.

It's very much a traditional fish and chip shop serving up the fresh catch of the day with welcoming additions such as flame-grilled home-made gourmet burgers and gelato ice creams.

Secret family recipes and traditional flavours are set to entice locals and visitors alike.

English teas and a full range of coffee from their state-of-the-art machine are on offer to compliment your favourite dishes. For those wishing for something a little stronger, the restaurant is fully licensed.

A statement on the website reads "Here at Fisherman’s Bay we strive to make the British Classic, Fish and Chips to perfection.

"Starting with the source of all of our food, we take great care ensuring we only use sustainable fish and British farmed potatoes, resulting in the freshest of flavours for you to enjoy."
