New figures show 575 people have died from coronavirus in Scotland

Scotland's coronavirus death toll has tragically risen again.

A total of 575 people have sadly passed away after contracting the illness – up nine from yesterday.

The Scottish Government has released the latest sets of figures as part of its daily update.

But no additional data has been provided from NHS Ayrshire & Arran and NHS Tayside.

In a statement on its website, the Scottish Government said: "We have no data today from two labs (Tayside and Ayrshire and Arran).

"As a result, the number of cases/tests is artificially low. We are continuing to work with colleagues on this."

Throughout Ayrshire as of yesterday afternoon, a total of 390 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Across Scotland, there have been 31,813 tests carried of which 6,067 have returned positive.

Confirmed coronavirus cases by health board:

Ayrshire and Arran – 390**

Borders – 204

Dumfries and Galloway – 192

Fife – 383

Forth Valley – 352

Grampian – 313

Greater Glasgow and Clyde – 1,486

Highland – 163

Lanarkshire – 784

Lothian – 932

Shetland – 45

Tayside – 812**

Orkney – 5

Western Isles – 6

** – Due to technical issues, no update available today.

Symptoms of coronavirus...

The symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • a cough
  • a high temperature
  • shortness of breath

But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness.

The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.

How to avoid catching or spreading coronavirus...

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • always wash your hands when you get home or into work

  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available

  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze

  • put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards

  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

If you think you may have the coronavirus, do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Call 111 if you need to speak to someone.
