New figures reveal amount of cash Nottingham Forest have spent on agents' fees - and fans might be surprised

The amount of money Nottingham Forest spent on agents’ fees last year has been revealed.

The Football Association have released figures detailing how much clubs spent on intermediary and agents’ fees from 1 February 2018 to 31 January this year.

Overall, Championship teams spent £50.5m during that period, with the Reds having paid out just over £1m.

They splashed out a total of £1,053,720, down from £1,141,512 in the previous 12 months which covered 1 February 2017 to 31 January 2018.

The most recent figure covers a busy summer transfer window at the City Ground, which saw 17 new arrivals under then-boss Aitor Karanka, while the Spaniard’s replacement, Martin O’Neill, made five additions after he took over in January.

Forest’s sum includes cash dished out to the agents of club record signing Joao Carvalho, fellow Portuguese youngsters Diogo Goncalves and Gil Dias, and Newcastle United loanee Jack Colback.

Most recently, representatives for the likes of Yohan Benalouane, Pele, Leo Bonatini and Alexander Milosevic have all been paid, while money was also spent on those acting on behalf of some of the club’s younger players, like Yassine En-Neyah and Rudolfs Soloha.

Among the second tier clubs, Rotherham United spent the least, with £154,653, while Stoke City were the biggest spenders, with £7,229,515.
