New fast food chicken takeaway opens in Bulwell with some surprises on the menu

Fans of KFC and Nando's can now get a chicken fix from a brand new takeaway in Bulwell -and there's also some surprises on the menu.

The first Chickasso in the UK is the latest concept from the founder of Ohannes, a rapid growing burger brand which came over to Notts from Turkey.

Specialising in grilled platters, peri peri chicken, burgers and wraps, Chickasso takes inspiration from Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, said the owner Murat Yer.

He said: "We are determined to design beautiful dishes with fresh chicken, creating delicious plates, treating each one like an artist's canvas.

"We have flavours to suit all taste buds from crazy hot through to timidly mild, our range of expertly created combinations with freshly-made sauces will make you fall in love at first bite. There’s even some tasty options for vegetarians."

Everything from a quarter to a whole chicken, butterfly to strips, wings and thighs are on the menu, with a choice of sauces made in-house including peri peri, lemon and herb, buttery sriracha, mushroom and chimichurri.

Unusual options are a spicy crispy chicken skin baguette - or one with spicy chicken liver with mixed peppers.

More conventional burgers and wraps come filled with pulled chicken, grilled chicken thigh or buttermilk coated chicken with hot sauce.

If you're trying to be healthier have a side of steamed vegetables, salad or spicy steamed rice. Otherwise it's got to be fries, wedges or garlic naan bread.

A popular Turkish dessert of chicken breast milk pudding is on the menu. "It is a like a rice pudding with chicken bits in it," said Mr Yer.

Up to 20 chicken lovers will also be able to eat in the restaurant in Main Street, once lockdown and Tier 3 restrictions are lifted but for now they can collect a takeaway or order through Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo.

Just like Ohannes, Mr Yer plans to grow Chickasso in a chain, with a second branch set to open in Mansfield in February.

Meanwhile, the fourth Ohannes will be opening in Hucknall next week bringing gourmet burgers to High Street.
