New England Women boss Sarina Wiegman tipped to thrive at home Euros

New England Women boss Sarina Wiegman will thrive under the pressure of a home Euros.

That is according to Arsenal Women star Vivianne Miedema, who has spent the past three-and-a-half years playing under Wiegman for the Dutch national team.

Wiegman, who was due to be unveiled as Phil Neville’s successor today, guided the Netherlands to glory at the Women’s Euros as the host nation in 2017

She will now be tasked with doing the same job when England host the postponed competition in 2022.

Miedema said: “Everyone knows what we achieved as a national team. I think as well for her and the English FA, it’s going to be a really promising ride.

“She has great qualities as a coach. Tactically she is really strong and that’s what England will need in the next couple of years, especially with a home Euros as well.

“She knows how to handle the pressure. Even coming back to our Euros and World Cup, we didn’t have the best team but we as a collective made it to one of the best teams around.

“England has a great basic level, but it has not come out yet in big tournaments. With Sarina’s experience, she will definitely add that to England’s game.”
