Patriots safety Patrick Chung indicted on cocaine charge in New Hampshire

New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung has been indicted on a cocaine possession charge in New Hampshire, as first reported by the Laconia Daily Sun newspaper.

Chung was cited after incident in the town of Meredith on or about June 25, Belknap County Assistant County Attorney Keith Cormier told Patriots Wire.

Chung was indicted Aug. 8. A court date is expected within a month of the indictment date, according to Cormier, who said Chung is believed not to have been arrested as part of the incident.

The Meredith Police Department, which handled the incident, would not provide comment or additional information to Patriots Wire, citing an active investigation.

Chung has been with the Patriots from 2009 to 2012 and 2014 to present. He spent 2013 with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Patriots selected him in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

The NFL will monitor Chung’s legal situation as they determine if they will deliver a punishment. The NFL and NFLPA policy states that if a player is found guilty for a drug-related charge and is a first-time offender of the NFL’s drug policy, he will receive a one-game suspension.
