New England Patriots release Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown’s stay in New England lasted one game longer than his tenure with the Oakland Raiders.

The wide receiver, who brings tons of turbulence with talent, was released by the New England Patriots Friday.

The move comes after Patriots coach Bill Belichick exited a news conference earlier when pressed by reporters about the wideout.

“I know there are questions about Antonio. We take all the situations with our team very seriously,” Belichick said. “There are some things that we’re looking into, but I’m not going to have any comment on any of the off-the-field.”

Since signing with New England Sept. 9, Brown had been accused of multiple incidents of sexual misconduct.

He was accused of sexual assault and rape by Britney Taylor, a gymnast he met while they were attending Central Michigan University together who he later hired as his trainer.

Another woman accused Brown of sexual misconduct in a story published by Sports Illustrated Monday. SI followed that story by reporting Thursday that woman said Brown has been sending her intimidating text messages since the allegations surfaced.

Brown had 4 catches for 56 yards and a TD in his lone game as a Patriot, a rout of the Miami Dolphins.

Prior to signing with New England, Brown had signed a mega-contract with the Oakland Raiders but was released after a series of conflicts with the team and management.

New England then signed him to a contract that wound up lasting one game.

Brown thanked New England for the opportunity on Twitter.

Rams coach Sean McVay had this reaction to the news.
