New Edinburgh vegan takeaway launches as crowds queue for 'tuna melts'

FacePlant Foods has officially opened its doors on Edinburgh's Duke Street and the vegan business has been selling out over and over again since they launched.

The Leith takeaway is the first permanent premises for the popular vegan business - FacePlant Foods originally started out as one of Scotland's first vegan pop-ups in 2017 and have spent the last four years attending markets and street food events across the country.

Now, their very own cafe has been opening its doors to plant-based eaters and non-vegans alike, offering a huge range of animal product-free takes on classics.

Their 'tuna melt' is quickly becoming a new favourite on their menu - with one customer writing "GAMECHANGER - one of my fave new foods I’ve had this year, I've missed tuna melts so much!!".

The 'fish' is flavoured with nori to give it that real tuna taste.

The team are also dishing out scran from a stand at Leith Market this weekend - notably their legendary 'chicken wings' in two flavours, honey mustard and soy sesame.

For upping your own plant-based sandwich game at home, FacePlant Foods also sell handmade vegan ' cheese and meats ' for customers to take home.
