New Edinburgh pop-up market sells everything from vegan street food to gin and cakes

A brand new market is set to pop-up in Edinburgh, showcasing a range of local businesses - from delicious vegan food to gin and much more.

Rod Nisbet, who owns Traditionally Twisted Events and The Devil’s Bean Coffee Co, is behind the new market which will take place in Leith's The Old Dr Bells' Baths.

He explained that his business, along with countless others, has been struggling to make money since markets closed down temporarily.

Rod previously started doing a small pop-up café at the Great Junction Street events venue to bring in some income and invited other traders to join him.

"I am a strong advocate of small local businesses and have been looking for something to do to help them out", he said.

He continued: "After talking to the guys at the Bells I came up with the idea of doing a Local Traders Showcase and we worked on the logistics, looked at the space we have available and we are ready to launch this weekend.

"The showcase will operate every weekend for the foreseeable future allowing ten local traders not currently trading properly the chance to sell."

The market will operate on Saturday and Sunday between 10am-4pm, where locals can come along for a socially distanced browse and to pick up some scran.

This Saturday will see a cracking lineup of businesses, including The Devils Bean Coffee Co, Salt Pigs Sea Salts, Selkirk Distillers, Damn Fine Cheeses, Thistle Dubh Food Hampers, Taberu Japanese Street Food, Schoolyard Chillies, The Soap Farm and vegan food specialists Caravan of Courage.

Meanwhile, Kvasa Baker and LishDish Pies will be there on Sunday to cure the blues with some delicious sweet and savoury treats.
