Edinburgh Dogs Trust are looking to re-home an eight-year-old female crossbreed who has endured a difficult upbringing.
The centre at West Calder launched an appeal to look for a new home for Suzie and have described her as "quiet and can be very mistrustful of people."
They also said that Suzie can be easily overwhelmed in busy or noisy situations. They added: "She can be fearful of the outside world and does need a garden where she can come and go as she pleases. She is house-trained, can be left alone for short periods of time and does like to travel in the car.
"As Suzie is worried when meeting new people she will require new owners to make several visits to the centre to get to know and build a relationship with her. Suzie is affectionate and loving with those she knows, she is super playful and loves playing tug with her soft toys."
The centre also compiled a video of Suzie exploring the outdoors and getting up to all sorts of mischief, showing that a little bit of love can go a long way.
After having feeling threatened and uneasy with other dogs, the home have also asked that Suzie's potential owner ensures she is the only pet in the house.
They added: "Suzie is worried about meeting dogs and people when out and about on her walks and this can cause her to feel upset. There are times when Suzie wont leave the house and would rather play or potter in her garden where she feels safe.
"Suzie needs to be the only pet in the home and would like a calm and quiet environment surrounded by fields or land for peace and tranquilty."
