New Dublin restaurants: Temple Bar's 'ultimate comfort food joint' MacDaddy opens its doors

A brand new restaurant has opened up in Dublin city centre and we can't wait to try it out.

Described as "the ultimate comfort food joint" MacDaddy has a lip-smacking menu of seriously indulgent eats.

Diners can pick up meals to-go, or those living within 5km of the eatery can order home-cooked classics directly to their front door via Deliveroo.

You can get the all cheddar classic Mac & Cheese or ‘Cheese Monster’ €12, elevating a classic side dish to a glorious main.

Diners can go the whole hog, with different mac & cheese pairings, such the ‘Pig Mac’ €16.50 with pulled pork & slaw, the ‘Don Juan’ with chorizo & cajun spice €15.50 or the ‘Winger’ €16.50 with buffalo honey butter, popcorn chicken and blue cheese ranch dressing.

And if you're still feeling peckish you can choose from four buttermilk fried chicken sandos with all the trimmings, (priced €9.95), along with Popcorn Chicken €8.50 and Waffle Fries €3.95.

Kiddos can enjoy a mini cheese-mac or popcorn chicken with fries (€8.50).

Finally, if you’re really craving a comfort hit, you can round things off with the Deep Fried Oreos and white chocolate dipping sauce €6.50.

Owner Joey Somers has already won the hearts of sambo loving folk, with his successful New York inspired sandwich shop Doughboys.

He said: "Unfortunately, like all hospitality businesses, Doughboys was badly hit by the COVID pandemic’ explains Somers, the Temple Bar premises had to close on March 14th 2020 and has remained shut ever since. Rather than lose the premises, I decided to develop MacDaddy, a casual comfort food eatery in the heart of Dublin.

"Diners can choose from super-indulgent mac and cheese mains, fried chicken, fries, sides & deep fried oreos, and we’re only getting started - this is the ultimate comfort food."
