A new Dublin Fire Brigade recruit became an instant hero earlier this week when he helped deliver a baby girl on his first day on the job.
Five paramedics from B Watch on Tara Street helped the Dublin mother with the arrival of her newborn girl who seemed to be in a hurry to see Santa next week.
Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed that both mother and baby are doing well and applauded their firefighters for reacting quickly to the emergency situation.
Sub Officer Dermot Murray, Advanced Paramedics Brian Kelly and Graham Hennebry, and firefighter Alaric Collier oversaw the whole operation on Tuesday while Sean Maher was the new recruit that was thrown in at the deep end.
Fellow Dublin Fire Brigade firefighter and paramedic Keith Valentine told The Mirror: “Well done to everyone involved. It was our team’s new recruits first day on the job and they were brilliant.
“Sean Maher was one of those recruits and the other new worker was on a different fire engine at another incident at the time.”
