New Dublin coffee shop offers customers one-of-a-kind educational experience

A new coffee shop in Dublin is offering customers a one-of-a-kind educational experience in their store.

Cool Hand Coffee Roasters has recently opened its third store in Dublin on Upper Baggot Street. The takeaway coffee shop offers the unique concept of enabling customers to hand-roast their chosen beans in store, or choose their chosen blend from one of their dispensers.

Coffee enthusiasts can select and roast coffee beans from 15 different countries. They can also bring their coffee jar into the store and fill at one of its nostalgic candy-store style dispensers.

Owner Luke Creighan told Dublin Live: “On Baggot Street the customers can actually come in, have their green beans and get them roasted in front of them. Customers are amazed by what they see, they can dispense it, bring it over to the coffee roasting machine.

“There’s only one place in the UK that does it and we’re the only place in Ireland that does it. We’re educating the customer about the green beans, the farms, where it's from."

The dog-friendly store, which also has locations in in Kilmainham and the IFSC, additionally sells gluten free, vegan, and organic food but they mainly concentrate on the coffee.

“We’re planning on having workshops and roasting demonstrations. You’ll be able to book a slot online, hopefully by August,” Luke continued.

“We want people to come in and learn latte art, brewing experience, and roasting experience. They can come in during the evening when the shop is closed and be brought through the whole process.

“Customers already ask us about the different types of coffee. We’ve the expertise here that know about the beans, what region they come from, how they’re actually roasted. You are educating the customers and giving them a different experience.”
