New drone footage shows progress on Leicester City’s new £100m training ground

New drone footage shows the progress being made on Leicester City’s new £100 million state-of-the-art training ground.

The huge facility, going up about 10 miles north of Leicester, is due to open in the next few months.

When building work first started in 2018, City had initially hoped they would move into the new training ground in time for pre-season ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

However, the club have spent and will spend all of pre-season at their existing Belvoir Drive training ground, with the move to be set for a time that is more convenient.

The pitches at the new county headquarters were laid a few months ago, while the indoor training centre has, from the outside, looked ready to go for some time, but the latest video from Leicestershire From The Sky shows there has been significant work done on the main building.

This will play host to the offices for staff, a dining area, a media centre, rehabilitation spaces, and a hydrotherapy pool.

The 185-acre site, which will be surrounded by a nine-hole golf course, includes 11 full-size pitches – including one show pitch with a 499-seater stand – eight smaller pitches, five training grids, two goalkeeping areas, and a sports turf academy for developing the next generation of groundstaff.
