New Donald Trump footage has one line that suggests he has big future plans

Former US President Donald Trump is eyeing up the role again as he's predicted he will be the 47th President in the White House.

The confident businessman declared he'd be the next man in charge while playing a round of golf.

As Trump was filmed walking to the first tee, one of his playing partners could be heard saying: “Now on the tee, the 45th president of the United States.”

Donning the usual red cap and a wry smile, he said: “The 45th and 47th."

And should he run for the next Presidency, polls are suggesting he has a good chance of getting it.

He already holds a commanding lead over other potential Republican 2024 candidates, according to several polls conducted this month.

In one Reuters/Ipsos poll, Trump was leading Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis by 43 percentage points.

Should Trump make it back into power, it could be an interesting period for RTE News' new Washington Correspondent.

Last week they announced the appointment of Sean Whelan as the man to replace Brian O'Donovan.

He will be a familiar face to many, having served as the station's London Correspondent for the last three years, reporting on Brexit, the pandemic and UK politics.

Prior to that he was Economics Correspondent with RTE News for almost nine years.

He will be responsible for reporting across RTE News' television, radio and digital platforms on all aspects of life in the United States.

The role has previously been held by the likes of Charlie Bird and Caitríona Perry.
