A new dog kennel has been approved despite objections about noise.
West Lothian Council approved the application on May 13, to build kennel accommodation for 10 dogs and feed storage at Crofthead House, Cannop Crescent in Stoneyburn.
The application from Brian Cockburn states that there is currently a barn on the site that will be replaced with the kennel.
The council’s roads department found the application acceptable with no conditions but there were objections from two locals.
Both cite noise nuisance as their primary concern and claim this is already an issue in the neighbourhood.
One said: “The applicant already has two dogs at the location which bark, causing noise nuisance. In addition there is already noise nuisance from the nearby chicken farm and existing kennel establishments to the west and south of my property.”
The other commented: “I already suffer nuisance from the chicken farm and to a lesser extent nuisance barking from existing kennel establishments to the west and south of my house.
“I hope you give my objections ample consideration as I, and my neighbours, already hear the applicant’s dogs during daylight hours which tends to spoil the enjoyment of what is generally speaking a quiet area.”
