New 'Divinity' Trailer Secret May Hint at Chaos Returning to Rivellon

"Divinity" fans may have found another clue hidden in the footage since the trailer's release eight months ago during The Game Awards. Larian Studios is definitely cooking something big for the next installment.

Thanks to the short teaser, fans have formulated theories about where the story could go next.

YouTuber WolfheartFPS recently took a closer look at the Divinity reveal trailer. The analysis also examined a behind-the-scenes video released by Unit Image. The studio worked with Larian Studios to create the game's cinematic trailer.

The additional footage provides clearer views of several characters and environments. It also reveals details that were difficult to spot in the original reveal.

'Divinity Trailer' May Hide a Message About Chaos

One detail has quickly attracted attention from the "Divinity" community.

According to Polygon, WolfheartFPS focused on the crown worn by an older man who appears to be undergoing a disturbing ritual. In the behind-the-scenes footage, the writing on the crown is easier to see.

After examining the symbols, WolfheartFPS suggested that they may resemble Elder Futhark. The ancient Germanic runic alphabet contains 24 runes.

According to his interpretation, the writing could roughly translate to "khaahs is kommng." Phonetically, this could be read as "chaos is coming."

The translation has not been officially confirmed by Larian Studios. However, if the interpretation is accurate, the message could have major implications for the next Divinity game.

Could Chaos Return to Rivellon?

According to Kotaku, Chaos is closely connected to the darker mythology of Rivellon. Within the series' lore, it represents a powerful force of evil. It is also linked to the creation of Hell and demons.

The entity was previously banished by the Council of Seven. Chaos later attempted to return by possessing Damian. That attempt ultimately appeared to fail.

The new "Divinity trailer," however, has encouraged fans to wonder if Chaos could once again become a central threat.

Some viewers believe the game's story may explore humanity turning away from the gods. If that theory is correct, the rejection of divine authority could create an opportunity for Chaos to return.

Another scene has also fueled speculation. The trailer appears to show Lucien the Divine, or someone designed to represent him, being burned.

Fans have interpreted the imagery as a possible sign of humanity rejecting the gods and their influence.

Larian Studios Has Yet to Confirm the Theory

The possible crown inscription remains just that—a theory.

There has been no official confirmation that the symbols actually spell "chaos is coming." It is also unclear whether the writing is intended to communicate a direct message about the game's plot.

Still, the discovery adds another intriguing detail to the growing list of Divinity fan theories.

If WolfheartFPS's interpretation proves correct, the hidden message could be an early warning about one of Rivellon's most dangerous forces.

For now, fans will have to wait for Larian Studios to share more details about the game's story and characters.

There is also no confirmed release date. That means the next chapter of Divinity could still be a long way off.

But if the hidden message was intentional, it's guaranteed that Rivellon may have a new threat on the horizon.

Chaos could be coming back.

In late 2025, "Divinity: Original Sin 2" received a next-gen upgrade, making it appealing for all modern gaming platforms.
