New Disney plus streaming service to launch later this year featuring animated classics

Disney has revealed it is to launch its very own video streaming service, which will feature many of the animated classics people know and love.

The service, Disney Plus, has been in the works for over a year and now Disney have revealed plans to contend with the likes of Netflix, Amazon and HBO Go.

While Netflix has a deeper catalogue of shows - including popular binge-worthy series House of Cards, Stranger Things and many more - Disney Plus will feature the all-time classics.

Lord of the Rings TV series set to be filmed in new Edinburgh studio

This means customers will be able to stream the likes of Aladdin and The Jungle Book, which will both be available when Disney Plus launches.

It will also see movies that come out in 2019 and onwards streamed only on Disney Plus.

This will include Captain Marvel, and the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, Toy Story 4, The Lion King and Aladdin.

However these will only be available on the streaming service after the cinema release period and home movie debut.

Initially, Disney Plus will be rolled out in the US on November 12, with customers paying either 6.99 dollars (£5.35) per month or 69.99 dollars (£53.55) per year.

The company is yet to release further details on when the service will be debuted in other markets.

So, for us here in Edinburgh and the rest of the UK, it will be a case of waiting until we can binge watch our childhood classics.

In other Disney news, the company are currently employing staff on their luxury cruise ships .

Meanwhile, in Edinburgh, a Disney singalong is taking place in the Assembly Rooms next Sunday.
