New dessert takeaway set to open in Daybrook

A new dessert takeaway could soon open after it was given the council go ahead. A vacant unit next to the Gypsy Blood tattoo studio on Mansfield Road, Daybrook can now be turned into a dessert takeaway, after Gedling Borough Council greenlit plans on June 20.

Part of the building can now be used as a takeaway and shop serving predominantly cold desserts/waffles. The proposed opening hours would be 4pm to 11.30pm Sunday-Thursday and 4pm to 12am Friday-Saturday.

The premises would employ up to a maximum of eight staff. The applicant has confirmed that the only cooking facilities would be a waffle maker and a microwave.

A Gedling Borough Council report on the application said: "The proposed development is consistent with Gedling Borough planning policies. The proposal will not have an unacceptable impact on the amenity of occupiers of neighbouring properties.

"The proposal does not impact on highway safety in the area. It is considered that the proposal is appropriate for its context and is in accordance with Sections 6, 7, 9 and 12 of the NPPF (2019), Policies A and 10 of the ACS and Polices LPD32, LPD 57 and LPD 61 of the LPD (2018)."
