New deaths in St Helens, Knowsley and Liverpool add to region's toll

New coronavirus deaths have been recorded in St Helens, Knowsley and Liverpool as NHS bosses warn about the risk of a second spike of the virus.

After several days of recording no new coronavirus deaths, the St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust has recorded three new fatalities in its latest update.

This means that 180 people have now died across St Helens and Whiston Hospitals.

There were also three further deaths recorded at Liverpool's main University Teaching Hospitals Trust, while the city's other Trusts have not had any further deaths.

The total figures for the city's NHS Trusts are:

Liverpool University Teaching Hospitals Trust - 395

The Walton Centre for Neurology - 9

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital - 17

Alder Hey Children's Hospital - 4 (all adult patients)

Mersey Care Mental Health Trust - 3

The only other death that was recorded in hospitals in our region was in Wirral, where one further fatality means the peninsula's main Trust's total now stands at 201.

There were no further deaths recorded at the Southport and Ormskirk Trust or the Halton and Warrington Trust, which remain on totals of 133 and 114 respectively.
