New deal for Canada's news agency

One of Canada's oldest news institutions, the Canadian Press news agency, has been transformed from a not-for-profit co-operative into a profit-seeking enterprise.

Its three largest members - the Globe and Mail, the Francophone Square Victoria group, and Torstar - have reinvested in a new entity, Canadian Press Enterprises Inc.

Four Square's Guy Crevier said: "Working together as an ownership team guarantees that CP will be able to continue its tradition of delivering quality content across Canada in the years ahead."
