New date for Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua as Deontay Wilder trilogy set

Tyson Fury's undisputed fight against Anthony Joshua could take place later this year, the former's promoter has claimed.

Boxing fans were left reeling when plans for a heavyweight unification bout between the two were cancelled last week.

Fury was set to put his WBC and Ring Magazine belts on the line against WBO, WBA and IBF champion Joshua in Saudi Arabia on August 14.

However, just days after Fury announced he had agreed the deal, it was ruled by an arbitrator in America that the 'Gypsy King' needed to fight Deontay Wilder in his next fight instead.

The trilogy fight between the two is set to take place on July 24 in Las Vegas, with Arum hopeful that the unification bout will take place later this year.

First, however, Joshua has to get through his mandatory challenger, Oleksandr Usyk.

The former undisputed cruiserweight champion is set to be given the opportunity to challenge Joshua next.

And Arum admitted he thinks 'AJ' has a difficult task ahead of him, but plans to get together with Eddie Hearn and create the undisputed fight in November or December if he is successful.

"Hopefully, although I think Joshua has his hands full with Usyk. That's a really good fight," Arum said to iFL TV.

"I give Usyk a hell of a chance to upset Joshua in that fight.

"Hopefully he doesn't, hopefully Tyson comes through and we can do the unification fight in November or December of this year."

Arum also revealed that he hadn't even opened talks with Wilder over a step-aside fee.

The promoter declared he wanted Fury to deal with his obligatory challenger before being free to fight a voluntary defence of his belts.
