New dance classes in Coalisland encouraging everyone to get up and boogie

New dance classes set to run at the Craic Theatre in Coalisland are encouraging everyone of any age to get up and dance.

The classes are being run by local dance expert and theatre director Sean O’Neill, who is fresh from a performance in the recording of Disney live-action musical Disenchanted.

There are three groups of classes for children and adults in the Co Tyrone theatre, and Sean has been taken aback by the response so far.

He said: “It’s a recreational class so it’s for anybody with any ability really, to come along and try something new.

“It’s basically trying to get people out and do a bit of fitness for fun.

“A lot of people come to see shows all the time and they say they’d love to do something like that and they never get the chance so this is to open it up and give people that chance.

“I know a lot of people want to get up and boogie about and they don’t really have a place for it!

“It’s great that I’ve had more than 20 people getting in touch about the classes already after only a couple of days.

The classes are due to begin on 9 September at the Co Tyrone community theatre.

“It’ll be warm ups and stretching, then trying to increase flexibility over the weeks, and then learning fun routines to songs everybody knows.

“The middle class is a contemporary one and it’s a bit different. It wouldn’t be as popular but it’s something I’m also trained in so I thought why not give people the chance to.

“It’s a nice style to build up your fitness and core strength and stuff like that.

“It’s always something I wanted to do, and I’m glad to see the response to it so far and hopefully it just keeps building from there.”
