New dad, 21, found dead from suspected asthma attack in second tragedy to hit family

A new dad was found dead in a suspected asthma attack as it is the second tragedy to hit the family in recent months.

Lewis Jonas, 21, was found dead in Wythenshawe as tributes have been paid to the "amazing" new dad.

The dad-of-one's cause of his death is not yet known, but his family say they understand he may have died following an asthma attack, Manchester Evening News reports.

His death comes 14 months after his sister passed away.

Lewis, who lived with his parents, had become a dad to a baby girl five months age.

He was about to turn 22 next month and was currently looking for a job, his other sister Cher Jonas said.

Cher said: "Lewis was an amazing person. He was loyal and funny.

"You could have a laugh with him. He was polite and well mannered and everyone got on with him like a house on fire."

Cher said her brother suffered from asthma, which the family believe may have contributed to his collapse.

She added: "Lewis had bad asthma and we believe he may have had an asthma attack.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place, which his family hope will reveal exactly what caused his tragic death.

Lewis' sister Kelly, 32, passed away last year from immune system disorder Sjogren's syndrome.

"Lewis was really gutted about that, but when he had his daughter his life got brighter," Cher said. "But sadly he has lost his life and now his daughter won't have her dad."

A fundraising page has been set up by close friends to help Lewis' family pay for the unexpected cost of a funeral.

Tributes have also poured in for the young dad on social media, with friends and family describing Lewis as a 'loving' and 'caring' lad.

Elisha Jane wrote: "Rest in peace Lewis Jonas thank you for the memories, never a day you weren’t smiling."

Victor Jonas, Lewis' dad, said: "My son sadly lost his life suddenly please help give him the best send off we miss him so much he was a loving caring lad and is loved by many people we appreciate every donation that can help."

The Mirror Online has contacted Greater Manchester Police for more information.
