Police are appealing for information after an 88 year-old woman was hit by a car leaving her in a critical condition.

Officers from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based in Ayrshire are continuing their enquiries and appealing for information after the elderly woman was struck by a Nissan Micra in New Cumnock on Saturday, 19 October.

The incident is said to have occurred around 9.50am on Saturday morning on the A76 at Afton Bridgend, New Cumnock.

The injured pedestrian was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital in Ayr where she is being treated for her injuries.
