New creative community space to be built in Bristol

A new co-working space for creative professionals is being built in Southville.

Gather Round is a 5,000 sq ft venue which will be based on the ground floor of the Cigar Factory near North Street.

The hub will have flexible working spaces, including fixed and casual desks for freelancers and individuals, as well as private studios for SMEs.

Ben Steers and Jason Smith, founders of Bristol-based creative design studio Fiasco Design, came up with the idea for the hub after trying to find a workspace which suited their company culture and didn’t tie them into long-term contracts.

The duo spent two years researching and designing the space, which aims to promote and support creativity and business growth through positive workspace and culture.

The idea, they say, is to “encourage community and collaboration between like-minded individuals”.

“It’s not just about creating a space to work,” the pair explained.

“[We] also wanted to create a hub that brings the creative community together; a space that encourages the sharing of skills and the development of new ideas.”

The hub will also have private studios for SMEs (Gather Round)

Gather Round, which will be open 24-hours a day, seven days a week, will have areas for group meetings and will host a programme of events and workshops.

The hub opens in June 2019. To join the community of creative businesses or to find out more, visit gather-round.co
