New Craneware boss buys in to firm for £30,000

The incoming chairman of Scottish healthcare software firm Craneware has spent almost £30,000 on his first stake in the business.

Will Whitehorn, who worked closely with Sir Richard Branson at Virgin, acquired 1,171 shares in the Edinburgh business at 2,550p each.

Whitehorn, 59, will take over the role from 1 January and replaces long-standing chairman George Elliott at the firm which is focused on the US market.

Whitehorn joined Virgin in 1986 and became Sir Richard Branson's corporate affairs advisor and brand development director for the group globally. He helped develop Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Trains and Virgin Media as businesses and went onto become the first president of space flight business Virgin Galactic.

He is currently deputy chairman of Perth-based transport group Stagecoach and chairman of renewables business Good Energy Group.
