New Covid infections fall by 20,000 in Liverpool City Region

Liverpool City Region has recorded 20,000 fewer Covid infections than the previous seven days.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, the Liverpool City Region had 15,708 covid infections in the seven days ending January 14 - that's 20,147 fewer positive tests than the seven days before.

It means that the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 56%.

The six local government areas of the Liverpool City Region all had decreases in positive Covid tests. The week-on-week percentage change figure drops were: 60% in Knowsley; 56% in Liverpool; 52% in Halton; 57% in St Helens; 58% in Sefton; and 54% in Wirral.

Warrington, Cheshire West and Chester and West Lancashire all recorded drops in infections in the week ending January 14.

In England, there was a 56% fall in Covid infections week on week ending January 14.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 4,707 cases in the week ending January 14, which is 6,069 fewer cases than the previous week.

This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 56%.

The latest infection rate was 940.5 cases per 100,000 people.

Wirral

Wirral's positive tests came to 3,507 cases in the week ending January 14, which is 4,050 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 54%.

The latest infection rate was 1,081.3 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 1,488 positive tests over the last week - that's 1,616 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 52% in Halton in the week ending January 14.

The latest infection rate is 1,146.7 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There was a total of 1,890 cases in the week ending January 14, which is 2,497 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate in St Helens is 1,043.7 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 57%.

Knowsley

There was a total of 1,539 cases in the week ending January 14, which is 2,299 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 1,009.5 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 60%.

Sefton

Sefton had a total of 2,577 cases in the week ending January 14, which is a 3,616 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 934.0 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases fell by 58% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 15,708 positive tests over in the week ending January 14, which is 20,147 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change fell by 56%. The latest infection rate is 922.51 cases per 100,000 people.

Warrington

There were 2,134 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending January 14, which is 2,431 fewer cases than the previous week.

The week-on-week percentage figure dropped by 53%. There was an infection rate of 1,019.12 per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

West Lancashire recorded 1,139 coronavirus cases in the week ending January 14, which is 1,405 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

This meant there was a week-on-week percentage figure dropped by 55%. The infection rate was 994.80 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 3,450 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending January 14, which is 3,469 fewer cases than the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 1,003.42 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week-on-week percentage decrease of 50% in cases.

England

In the week ending January 14, England recorded 556,828 coronavirus cases, which is 421,068 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

There was a week-on-week percentage drop of 43% in cases nationally, and there was an infection rate of 984.66 per 100,000 people.
