BHOPAL: After increasing consecutively for two days, new cases declined in the state as only 8,062 people tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.
Monday was also the fifth consecutive day when the number of people recovering from the disease outnumbered the number of people testing positive. On Sunday, 9,605 people had tested positive. On Monday, against 8,062 people testing positive, 10,748 people recovered taking the count of recoveries so far to 8,96,274..
However, two deaths were reported on Monday — one each from Gwalior and Indore.
So far in the 31 days of January, 1,72,292 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the state. On Monday, MP has 60,609 active cases, as per the state health bulletin released by the directorate of health services.
New infections were reported from 50 of 52 districts of the state and in 48 districts cases were reported in double figures. Bhopal alone reported 1,757 new Covid-19 cases.
Top five districts where maximum cases were reported include Bhopal (1,757 new cases), Indore (1,197 new cases), Jabalpur (410 new cases), Khargone (280 new cases) and Sehore (279 new cases). A total 194 persons were tested positive to the viral infection in Ujjain district. Khandwa district reported 158 new cases while as many as 119 cases were reported in Ratlam. Hotspot areas have continued their downward trend in Indore district on Monday for the last one week with decline in daily infections, showed area-wise analysis.
Positivity rate — the number of people testing positive out of every 100 samples tested — of 10.8% was reported in the state. A total of 74,554 samples were tested in the state.
