New Covid-19 cases detected in Leeds as plans to reopen economy finalised

Three more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Leeds in the last 24 hours.

Across Yorkshire, 34 new confirmed cases have been reported, bringing the county's total to 14,489.

While most areas recorded one or two new cases, Barnsley saw the biggest jump with 14, closely followed by Rotherham with 12.

Wakefield, Calderdale and York have not confirmed any new infections. For York, this is the 18th consecutive day where no new infections have been recorded.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to outline the plans to Parliament on Tuesday for pubs, restaurants, hotels and hairdressers to reopen in England from July 4, and a likely loosening of the distance rule to aid the restart to the economy.
