New council tax rates in Glasgow - here's how much you will pay

Council tax bills for people in Glasgow will soon be landing on their doorsteps if they haven't done so already.

And we will all be paying more this year after the City Government approved a rise of 4.64% in the tax as part of Glasgow City Council's budget for 2020/2021.

While in addition, an increase of 1.6% has been applied by Scottish Water to Water and Waste Water charges which are also included in your Council Tax bill.

With that in mind, here's what you will be paying for 2020 and into 2021 depending on the council tax valuation band the property you live in is in:

Council Tax band A (up to £27,000)

Council tax - £924.00

Water charge - £138.24

Waste water (sewerage charge) - £160.50

Total - £1222.74

Council Tax band B (over £27,000 and up to £35,000)

Council tax - £1078.00

Water charge - £161.28

Waste water (sewerage charge) - £187.25

Total - £1426.53

Council Tax band C (over £35,000 and up to £45,000)

Council tax - £1232.00

Water charge - £184.32

Waste water (sewerage charge) - £214.00

Total - £1630.32

Council Tax band D (over £45,000 and up to £58,000)

Council tax - £1386.00

Water charge - £207.36

Waste water (sewerage charge) - £240.75

Total - £1834.11

Council Tax Band E (over £58,000 and up to £80,000)

Council tax - £1821.05

Water charge - £253.44

Council Tax Band F (over £80,000 and up to £106,000)

Payment can be made via a Direct Debit on either the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd or 28th of each month, or every two or every four weeks, via a BACS payment or by debit or credit card, using Glasgow City Council's 24/7 automated payment line on 0141 287 0300.
